VIDEOS: Interviews from Midnight's Children press junket and 56th BFI LFF screening! Including Salman Rushdie!
Premiere Scene's Claire Bueno grabbed a magical few moments to interview Salman Rushdie & Deepa Mehta when they were in London attending a press junket promoting their film Midnight's Children. Adapted from Rushdie's best selling novel, the Filmmakers share with us how they literally were on the same page with regards to the story arc, how staying outside of the studio system for them was imperative to maintain creative control and how the epicness of the story was translated the cinematically for the big screen.
Magic was in the air at the 56th BFI LFF as Salman Rushdie's much loved novel Midnight's Children has now been adapted to enchant audiences on the big screen. Premiere Scene's Claire Bueno and Anthony Bueno interview actors Satya Bhabha, Shriya Saran and Charles Dance to find out more about why it was important to them to be a part of the film and Rushdie himself tells us the challenges of adapting an epic novel to a screenplay.

Experience the First Ever Leicester Square Take Over with Rise of the Guardians’ Magical Funland!
To celebrate the release of DreamWorks Animations newest film, ‘Rise of the Guardians’, a Magical Funland has been built in Leicester Square for families to enjoy in the run up to the festive season, in association with Paramount Pictures UK and Westminster Council.
The initiative, which is a first for the Square, will be officially opened by the film’s stars, Chris Pine (who voices Jack Frost) and Isla Fisher (who voices Tooth), at the UK premiere on the 15th November. Following this the site will be open daily for the next month, from 12.00 to 6.00pm and people from all over London are encouraged to go down and get involved in all the fun activities!
Ya-Lin Chen, Head of Promotions at Paramount Pictures UK, is excited about stepping into new territory: “I am thrilled that we’ve been able to do something different for this amazing release. Not only does it really reflect the magical nature of the film, but it’s something fun and different for families to do on a day out in the West End.”
Cllr Robert Davis, deputy leader of Westminster City Council, said: “With its unique cinematic history and entertainment heritage, Leicester Square remains the go to leisure destination in the capital and this has been underlined by the council’s recent £15m revamp completed in the summer. We are delighted to see the space being used for family fun and look forward to seeing thousands of visitors visit the new square in the run up to Christmas.”
Magical Funland activities will include the Bunnymund Maze, the Jack Frost Ice Slide, the Tooth Fairy Bungee, the Sand Sculpture and Santa Letter activities.

Jaded Richard Grindle is the sleaziest clown working the children’s party circuit in Ireland. Arriving late to one birthday, his timing is off, the bratty kids a nightmare and a prank goes horribly wrong - he falls on a kitchen knife and goes to that Big Top in the sky. Years later the same nasty kids attend another more grown up bash. Little do they know, thanks to a black magic clown cult, Stitches will be the uninvited guest of honour seeking revenge on those responsible for his untimely death. Laughs and gore combine in this twisted tale which also sees some fantastic performances from its young and upcoming cast that includes; TOMMY KNIGHT (Doctor Who) and GEMMA-LEAH DEVEREUX (The Tudors).
