Annie and Jay try to spice up their marriage in this laugh out loud comedy.

If you go to see a movie called Sex Tape you pretty much know what you're in for, and this doesn't disappoint with the first risqué scene about 30 seconds in. Don't worry though, the film has its tongue firmly in cheek and most of these sequences play for laughs by looking as awkward as possible.
Cameron Diaz stars as Annie who is married to Jay, played by Jason Segel. The couple have been together since college but with the arrival of two kids their sex life has taken a hit, something neither of them is happy about. When Annie gets a big job offer she decides the celebration can double up as a chance to get their love life back on track - cue several scenes of toe-curlingly embarrassing attempts to reignite the spark. "I'm so glad I mopped yesterday," breathes Annie as the pair try to spice things up on the kitchen floor.

Realising the night isn't the success she'd hoped, Annie hits on the idea of making a sex tape. And not just any sex tape, this one will see the pair trying every position in The Joy of Sex. The plan goes with a bang, the couple feel closer than ever and all is right with the world... for a while. Until Jay gets a mysterious text and realises that he's accidentally shared the intimate video with pretty much everyone the couple know. Predictably this doesn't go down well with Annie, with the rest of the movie following the pair as they go to extreme lengths to ensure no one sees them in the throes of passion.

The stars of a film called Sex Tape had better have chemistry, and luckily Cameron and Jason do. Both have admitted wanting to one-up the other in the cringey love scenes, and the results mean a lot of belly laughs for the audience. Their interaction as a family also gets top marks - what's not to love about little daughter Nell (Giselle Eisenberg) asking her harassed dad about the meaning of life? "But won't I get bored of doing stuff again and again?" she asks the guy who can't help comparing his married love life to that of his sex text-boasting friend.

Cameron and Jason play for laughs a lot in this, sometimes more successfully than others. There are moments which are so close to the bone you can't help laughing, but others which seemed a bit over worked. The pair coming up with implausible reasons for being in someone's home felt tired, although on the flip side not many other flicks have a full-on fight between a man and a dog.
The child stars steal the show in this one, with Harrison Holzer brilliant as the two-faced Howard. Watch out for a few star cameos too, but don't expect a film which has reinvented the wheel.
